Savor Cannon Beach Wine & Culinary Festival

March 12-14th, 2010

Friday, March 12th – from 5-7pm, The Ocean Lodge will host a wine tasting event featuring select Oregon wines with an emphasis on Pinot Noirs. Brian Doyle, author of “The Grail” will appear at the tasting for a reading and book signing at the Friday night tasting. Doyle’s book documents a full year in the life of Willamette Valley’s Lange Winery where he captures, with wonderful spirit and lively writing, the winemaker’s pursuit of taking the world’s most challenging and celebrated grape to make fine wine. Tickets are $35.00

Saturday, March 13th – Cannon Beach art galleries will host a town-wide Wine Tour to benefit the Children’s Center. Registration for the Wine Tour begins at the Coaster Theatre at 2pm which include a signature wine glass and wine tasting map.

Taking the theme of Savor Cannon Beach, many of the galleries will take the opportunity to showcase the Cannon Beach artists they represent. Some galleries will also feature food and wine related works of art. White Bird Gallery will feature paintings on wine boxes by Cannon Beach artist Steve McLeod, Local sculptor Michael Tieman will unveil his latest work, “The Wine Thief,” at Haystack Gallery. Icefire Glassworks will raffle a piece of art glass in Jim Kingwell’s “Northern Lights” series with proceeds benefiting the Children’s Center. During the Wine Tour, the glass blowing studio will serve light hors d’oeuvres from Newman’s at 988, paired with wine. Northwest By Northwest Gallery will feature Sineann Winery for the Wine Tour and will showcase oil paintings of wine bottles and glasses by Rosemary Belknap. Primary Elements Gallery will feature artisan created engraved wine glasses, a handmade inlaid marquetry wine tasting table, a wine themed table lamp with a glass shade and paintings with wine themes.
