The Site – Locating each inn on a site that confers on our guests an opportunity to step outside their work-a-day reality is our first priority. The natural beauty inherent in the right property creates our opportunity to build a lodging project that is organic to the land and enriches, rather than exploits. Our architecture is sensitive to the site topography and melds into the existing natural community.
The Architect - We have strong, long-term relationships with a short list of architects that meet our stringent criteria and understand our signature. We believe there to be an abundance of architects and designers that can design a visually beautiful lodging property, but, it is the firm that goes back to the basic tenant in all good architecture – the Golden Rule that form must follow function –this architect makes it onto our short list. Our goal is to continue to build the strength of this short list of firms that can design not just a beautiful inn, but an inn that structurally supports the business of hospitality behind the scenes and understands the less sexy functions of the lodging industry. In this way we are able to gracefully support the guests sense of escapism without the reality of laundry carts and a parade of vacuum cleaners.
Timeless, Tasteful Design - Our aim is to create lodging properties that appear timeless. We strive for authenticity from the inception of the buildings esthetic to the small details relating to FF&E. ELC looks for opportunities to employ adaptive reuse where ever whenever. An intangible kind of magic occurs when you can successfully mingle the existing, which imbues the project with the sense of place, with the elements and details that support our guest’s private definition for escape. The architecture must become indigenous to the site, for we believe that what often makes a place peaceful and harmonious is a solid sense of continuity and a historical connection to the earth.
Guest Room Interiors – Escape Lodging Company has developed a strong signature feel to our projects. Our inns guest rooms are warmly contemporary, welcoming and tastefully residential. The intent is to beckon our guests to settle in for the duration. Again, the goal is to convey comfort, relaxation and tranquility – an escape from urbanism, technology, frenzy and pace.
The Critical Ingredient - Whimsy and Play – We believe strongly in offering our guests every opportunity to experience play. To support that contention, we like to design into our properties activities that encourage playful escape. These often include bocce ball courts, croquet lawns, pool tables in our libraries, horseshoe alleys, dartboard stations and aviaries where weather permits. |
